Esta es una de las técnicas básicas más artísticas. Para esta práctica se utiliza Derwent Graphite y Onyx. Para otros detalles en el pelaje y los ojos se utiliza Faber Castell Pitt Graphite Matt.

Del libro Fragile World de Kerby Rosanes, mis suscriptores eligieron este gorila para colorear primero. Se está utilizando técnica mixta con tintas Inktense de Derwent, lápices de cera y acrílicos.
From the book Fragile World by Kerby Rosanes, my subscribers chose this gorilla. It is the first one from this book to be colored in mixed media. The materials are: Derwent Inktense, wax pencils (color pencils), and matte acrylics.

Para la de Mayo, la combinación fue plata - gris de Payne. Esta vez son ilustraciones originales experimentando con ceras y acuarela.

In the last two months, I have been experimenting with the color combos suggested by P.M. Artist Studio published in their Facebook group. At the bottom of the page, you will have links to their YouTube and Instagram.
The first one was not photographed in detail. April : It was the orange- pink combo. I used a page from the book Lost Ocean by Johanna Basford. Just color pencils used and markers.
The second one was finished last week. May: silver and Payne’s grey combo. These two are original works experimenting with wax and watercolor.

Entre enero y febrero de 2023, estuve experimentando con foami moldeable y acrílicos. Decidí hacer unos Alebrijes para ello. Aún no están terminados y falta mucho del proceso de pintura pero espero pronto seguir con este proyecto. De momento, les dejo un par de fotos.
During January and February 2023, I had been experimenting with foami clay. This is an air-dry clay, very light and good for children to play with. I decided to create some Alebrijes (hybrid creatures, mixed animals). There’s still much to paint and detail, but I hope I can continue with these creatures soon. Here you have a couple of photos.
Durante el año pasado estuve dando un mini taller de acuarela. Practicamos con flores, plantas, animales, objetos de decoración pero el favorito fue el paisaje.
Estuvimos siguiendo el método de Kolbie Blume (tiene dos libros publicados que se pueden conseguir en Amazon). Sus instrucciones son sencillas y con fotos de paso a paso.
La verdad es que hubo muchas mejoras. tantas que ya la alumna puede tomar fotos de referencia y crear sus propias acuarelas acentuando detalles.

Last year, I was giving a short workshop. The student wanted to learn watercolor. We practiced flowers, leaves, animals, and several house objects… the favorite one for her: landscapes.
We followed the method suggested in the books by Kolbie Blume. She’s got two books on landscapes that you can get on Amazon. Her instructions are easy and the steps have clear photos to follow along.
The student has improved a lot. She can now take her own photos and paint them into watercolor paying attention to accents.

Este libro es muy bueno para practicar un coloreado un poco más realista, sin llegar al hiperrealismo como tal. Como las páginas son muy suaves y lisas prefiero usar lápices de colores y plumines muy finos.
En esta entrada pueden ver algo de cómo se aplican las capas de color. Es un trabajo de varias horas dividido en varias semanas.
This book is good to practice a semi-realistic coloring techniques, not good for a hyper-realistic look. The pages are smooth and lack of tooth, so I prefer to use color pencils and fineliners.
In this post, you can see a few examples on how to lay colors. This project took several hours during several weeks.
